As an Environmental Project Manager Industrial Hygienist, you have no problem successfully navigating competing priorities.   Your technical expertise is something you take pride in, and you know how to exceed your clients expectations. Your past experience with asbestos, lead-based paint, mold, and indoor air quality assessments, as well as a desire to help other solve simple and complex problems, is what keeps you motivated in this field. Your great communication skills help you interact with your team and clients with ease. You also have a "can do" attitude and are ready to take on any project thrown your way and that's why you'll have all the opportunity for career growth within our company you'll want. 


You will be part of a dynamic, growing and energized team and your role is key to the success of HILLIS-CARNES.  While your job duties may fluctuate day to day, here are some areas we expect to see you proficient in:

  • Performance of technical field work including hazardous materials surveys, air sampling, moisture intrusion investigations, and indoor air quality assessments
  • Proposal and report preparation and peer review
  • Client management and development
  • Manage project budgets and prepare monthly invoices and change order requests
  • Representing HILLIS-CARNES at industry marketing events and conferences
  • Training junior staff and managing multiple projects with one or more field technicians on-site
  • Maintaining a safe work environment for you and your co-workers


If you can accomplish the above, your boots are probably ready for walking right into this role.  Realistically though, you need the following to be considered:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field
  • At least 4 years of experience in the industrial hygiene or hazardous materials field
  • Current Asbestos and/or Lead Based Paint Inspector certifications VA/MD/DC licenses preferred
  • Experience with Lead Risk Assessments, ability to obtain DC license within 3 mos of employment
  • Experience with asbestos/lead/mold abatement
  • Proficiency with MS Office suite
  • Strong technical communication skills with attention to detail
