YOUR ROLE:

We are actively seeking a highly-motivated Business Development Associate in State College, PA office with an entrepreneurial spirit and ability to thrive in a rapidly-growing, fast-paced, diverse environment. The Business Development Associate will support the success of Hillis-Carnes by individual actions and oversight of various activities that will result in building relationships with new and existing clients. The actions could include client development through market research, client meetings and digital marketing; improving market position, tracking and obtaining proposal/bid opportunities, tracking proposal output, interfacing with operations managers, assisting with proposal preparation

POSITION OBJECTIVE and REQUIREMENTS:

  • Develop and maintain an understanding of company services and differentiators
  • Develop and maintain a market understanding, identifying viable business opportunities and potential relationships
  • Build new relationships; nurture existing relationships
  • Facilitate introductions of potential clients to members of the firm
  • Evaluate, pursue and follow up on leads
  • Track leads and opportunities, as well as relationship engagement
  • Participate and/or direct proposal responses; work with the project team on content and delivery, if needed
  • Participate in firm-wide activities and programs, such as CRM/Quality Contacts
  • Attend industry networking events and conferences.
  • Other duties as assigned.

SKILLS and ABILITIES:

  • Excellent communication skills, oral and written.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment while successfully managing multiple priorities
  • Ability to continuously meet deadlines, independently or as part of a project team.
  • Ability to work extended hours, as needed.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe programs; standard office equipment
  • Other duties as assigned

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent
  • Minimum two or more years of related business development experience
  • One year+ in the A/E/C consulting industry or related professional services field
  • Experience in the Geotechnical Engineering and/or construction testing and inspection fields a plus
